84, of San Bernardino, died Monday, May 3, 2004, in San Bernardino, CA. She is survived by her daughter Amy Ruth Ellison of San Bernardino. Born in Lithuania, she received her Doctorate in Belle Lettere (Philosophy) from the University of Rome, Italy and emigrated to the United State in 1946. She taught at three schools: Rialto Jr. High, Pacific High, and San Gorgonio High where she was the G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education) Coordinator. She founded the World History Humanities and Honors programs at San Gorgonio High School and taught history through the arts there for over 20 years. Her students in Western Civilization had an extraordinary record of success with the Advanced Placement examination. Known as an outstanding teacher with a caring attitude she received a MONTE (Many of Our Nations top Educators) Award the first year it was offered. She was multi-lingual and inspired in her students a respect f or and interest in many cultures and diversity. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, The Retired Teachers Association and The Sisterhood of Temple Emanu El. In lieu of flowers, donations may be addressed to "Friends of Young Artists" and sent to the San Bernardino Community Scholarship Association, Communications Dept., Attention: Jo Montoya at 777 North "F" St., San Bernardino, CA 92410. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. with intenment to follow at Home of Eternity Cemetery, San Bernardino
