DRIVER CRITICALLY INJURED IN CRASH ON MOUNTAIN ROAD
THE SUN NEWSPAPER

A San Bernardino man was in critical condition in St. Bernardine's Hospital last night after his car over-turned three miles north of Boulder Avenue on Highway 30 in the San Bernardino Mountains.

George Welsh Hobkirk, 35, of 3360 Duffy St., sustained multiple fractures of the skull when he was thrown out of his car after an apparent malfunction in the car brake, California Highway Patrol officers reported.

Two other passengers, Marsha Jane Hobkirk, 16, 5432 Newberry Ave., San Bernardino who is Hobkirk's niece, and Gary Larell Christensen, 16, 5452 Elm Ave., San Bernardino, received minor injuries in the crash.

Hobkirk is, a radio announcer in Riverside was driving down Highway 30 from Enchanted Forest when the mishap occurred at about 4:10 p.m.

California Highway Patrol officers Nelson J. Brown and D.N. McDonald investigated at the scene.
