Two inquests will be held today and one tomorrow into deaths of automobile accident victims,said Coroner R. E. Williams. An inquest will be held at 10 a.m. today into the death of Harry Rhoades of Yucaipa at the F. Arthur Cortner mortuary in Redlands. Rhoades was fatally injured last Saturday when his car collided at an intersection in Yucaipa with one driven by Carlos Hernandez of Yucaipa. Mrs. Rhoades was seriously injured in the accident and is in the county hospital. Hospital doctors give her an even chance to live. At 2 p.m. inquest will be held at the J. B. Draper and Co. in Ontario into the death of Mitchel Greewood,49 of Los Angeles. Greewood was instantly killed in an accident on the Valley boulevard two miles east of Ontario Sunday. The victim was a passenger in a car driven by Horace Duncan of Los Angeles which overturned after being involved in an accident with another driven by Elmer E. Murchison, also of Los Angeles. At 1 p.m. tomorrow an inquest will be held into the death of Fenton Wood, 55, of Colton. Wood was struck Christmas eve by a car driven by H. G. Montgomery,20 of 550 Lugo Street, San Bernardino. The accident occurred at Tenth and G streets in Colton while Wood was attempting to cross the street. Meanwhile Mrs. Scott H. St. Clair injured Sunday in an accidnet on Foothill boulevard near Sycamore street, Fontana, remainedin a comatosse condition most of the time. Her husband Dr. St. Clair was removed from the hsopital to his home Monday night. He sustained cuts and bruises. Another accident victim J. W. Woodhouse injured yesterday when the car in which he was riding crashed into an ornamental light post on the Fourth street ramp of the viaduct, was reported recovering at St. Bernardine hospital. He sustained a broken nose and several scalp and face lacerations. The car hit the lamp-post when a tire blew out and threw the machine into a skid. O.D. Gilliilland,accompanying him suffered cuts on the face and head. |
